National Chocolate Day

National Chocolate Day, observed on October 28th, celebrates one of the world's most beloved treats, honoring a food with a rich history spanning millennia, from its origins as a bitter ceremonial beverage among ancient Mesoamerican civilizations to its modern status as a globally cherished sweet enjoyed in countless forms. Chocolate derives from the seeds of the cacao tree, native to Central and South America, where ancient civilizations including the Maya and Aztecs cultivated cacao and consumed it as a prized, often ceremonial beverage, sometimes flavored with chili peppers and other spices rather than the sweetened milk chocolate familiar today.
